Acer griseum
Paperbark maple

This small oval deciduous tree has trifoliate leaves, but is best known for its outstanding, cinnamon to reddish-brown exfoliating bark. Because it is slow-growing and difficult to propagate, it is relatively difficult to find.

Habit:Oval to oval-rounded with uniform branching, often formal
Size:20-30' in cultivation, reaching 50' in its native range
Color:New leaves are reddish-maroon, becoming dull dark green
Texture:Medium-fine due to trifoliate leaves
Hardiness:Zone 5a USDA
Habitat:Central China
Family:Aceraceae
