Acer saccharinum
Silver maple

A large, fast growing shade tree that is native to wetlands and floodplains in the United States. It is weak-wooded and tends to break easily in storms. Although there are several pest and disease problems and fall color is not very good, the species is commonly used for its adaptability and fast growth rate.

Habit:Oval to rounded with slightly pendulous lower branches turning up at the ends
Size:50-75' high
Color:Medium green in summer, with leaves silvery below
Texture:Medium
Hardiness:Zone 3a USDA
Habitat:Quebec - Florida - Oklahoma - Louisiana
Family:Aceraceae
