A cultivar with uncertain hybrid parentage, this short, mounded groundcover shows improved resistance to fireblight and spider mites compared to most other popular cotoneaster groundcovers. It was originally developed in Germany by Hesse around 1930, and brought to the Midwest by the Morton Arboretum around 1950.
