A large shrub or small tree known for its showy late summer flowers in a variety of colors.

Habit:Multi-stemmed or single-stemmed, vase shape to oval, upright branching, often leggy with age
Size:8 to 12' high by 6 to 10' wide
Color:Medium green in summer
Texture:Medium
Hardiness:USDA Zone 5b
Habitat:China, India; Introduced into Syria prior to 1600 thus the name syriacus
Family:Malvaceae
