Pinus resinosa
Red pine

A two-needled native pine that is well adapted to environmental extremes but tends to go off-color in the winter.

Habit:Pyramidal crown in youth becoming oval with age; individual branches are stout and horizontal to nearly pendulous; loses lower branches in middle age and becomes quite loose and open
Size:50-80' high
Color:Bright green to moderately dark green, turning yellowish green in winter
Texture:Medium
Hardiness:Zone 2a USDA, best suited to cold climates
Habitat:Newfoundland - Virginia - Minnesota - Manitoba
Family:Pinaceae
