Pseudotsuga menziesii
Douglasfir

This dark evergreen pyramidal conifer occurs in two geographic varieties: var. menziesii, Coast Douglas fir - an important timber producer growing to heights around 300', and var. glauca, Rocky Mt. Douglas fir - a landscape plant often less than 100' tall.

Habit:Formal, narrow pyramidal in youth becoming broadly cylindrical in age with a flat-topped crown; the upper branches tend to ascend, while the lower branches remain horizontal
Size:40-80' high
Color:Dark green to bluish-green
Texture:Medium-fine
Hardiness:Zone 4a USDA, var. glauca; Zone 6 var. menziesii
Habitat:Montana - New Mexico - Arizona - California - Vancouver Canada
Family:Pinaceae
