Pyrus communis
Common pear

Flowering in early April, this species produces an abundance of 1 to 1 1/2" diameter 5-petaled flowers. Unfortunately, they do not smell quite as nice as they look, and often cause an unwary "sniffer" to wrinkle their nose in distaste. The display however, is quite nice.
