Japanese yew

Flat and needle-like with an abrupt point, the evergreen foliage is 1/2 - 1" long and dark shiny green above and dull light green below divided by a dark green midrib. The needles are borne on a short brownish petiole and are arranged in an irregularly 2-ranked plane or somewhat radially. Foliage near branch tips is more radially borne.
