Acer saccharum
Sugar maple

Dark green and 3-6" long with an equal width, the simple, 5-lobed, entire or slightly coarsely toothed leaves are borne opposite along the stems. A well-known symbol, these leaves grace the Canadian flag and a host of other items. Newer cultivar selections have leaves that are darker and more waxy improving their resistance to leaf scorch.
