Aesculus hippocastanum
Common horsechestnut

Culture: Moist, well-drained soil in full sun is best for this species.

This species is often disfigured by scorch, blotch, and powdery mildew, especially by late summer.

Usage: Because of its problems with leaf diseases, care should be exercised in the siting of this species in an area that does not require a polished look in late summer. Large open areas are best where specimens can be appreciated from a distance.
