Buddleia davidii
Butterfly-bush

Showy and attractive to butterflies, the flowers of this species are perfect, usually lilac colored and fragrant, and are borne in 4 to 10" long upright and arching panicles from June until frost at the ends of branches. Individual flowers are about 1/4" across, 4-petaled and have an orange eye in the center. Since the flowers are borne on new wood, the plant is capable of flowering even when grown as a dieback shrub. There are selections with pink, purple, yellow and white flower colors.
