Diervilla sessilifolia
Southern honeysuckle

Culture: This plant grows well in almost any type of soil and full sun to moderate shade. It is a very tough plant, capable of thriving in dry exposed sites. This species will have a more uniform appearance if rejuvenated every 3 or 4 years, by cutting it to the ground in spring and allowing it to re-grow.

This species has few insect and disease problems.

Usage: The Southern bush-honeysuckle is suitable as a rugged ground cover, for use in bank stabilization and possibly in other tough sites.
