| Juniperus chinensis Chinese juniperCulture: Prefers a moist, sunny, well-drained site, but tolerates dry conditions, air pollution, and urban environments. It is pH adaptable and withstands heavy pruning, and should be transplanted either balled and burlapped or from a container. Susceptible to twig blight, and juniper bagworm but relatively trouble-free. Usage: Because of their high levels of environmental tolerance and evergreen foliage, junipers are often overused in the landscape. That is not to say that they have no place, for they can be effective as a screen, hedge, windbreak, groundcover, foundation plant, rock garden plant, in groupings, or as a single specimen, depending on the cultivars selected. |
