Opposite to slightly subopposite, the semi-evergreen leaves are ovate to elliptic, 1 to 2 1/2" long and entire. The leaves are bright yellow or yellow-green in summer, turning to purple in late fall and persisting on the plant much of the winter. The better the summer sunshine exposure, the more yellow the leaves. Plants located in shade will be yellow-green at best.
