Maclura pomifera var. inermis Thornless osage-orange
This variety is nearly the same as the parent, with the only difference being in the number of thorns. Apparently, there are very few true thornless varieties available, as most have some degree of spines present. Dirr states that the most thornless form so far is 'White Shield'. Another good selection is 'Wichita', introduced by the late John Pair of Kansas.
