Malus x 'Dolgo'
Dolgo flowering crabapple

The large, edible, 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" fruits are bright red to slightly purplish red in color. Because of its alternate tendency, heavy crops alternate with light ones. Because of their large size, the fruits can be messy in a landscape situation if not picked for eating. The fruit drop soon after maturing, but make excellent jellies, preserves, etc.
