Persian parrotia

The alternately borne obovate leaves are simple and 2 1/2 to 5" long with a width of 1/2 the length. They are also shiny and asymmetric with crenate-dentate slightly undulating margins above the middle half of the leaf, resembling the leaves of the Hamamelis spp. The new leaves are accompanied by a pair of scales at their base that fall early in the season.
