Paulownia tomentosa
Royal paulownia

Extremely coarse in appearance, these yellow-brown to reddish-brown pubescent stems are covered with large light brown to gray lenticels. The pith is chambered or sometimes hollow, making these stems easy to crush. As stems mature, they become glabrous. Young vigorous stems may be 1/2 - 1 1/2" in diameter, bearing 1/4 - 1/2" oval leaf scars.
