Pinus bungeana
Lacebark pine

Beautiful in its effect, the semi-mature bark flakes off to expose irregular patches of grays, greens, off-white, browns and reddish brown areas. Trunks must usually be at least 3" in diameter to begin showing the effect and the display is probably nicest when trunks are 6-12" in diameter. This feature adds a very striking character to the plant. The bark continues to change with age, becoming a light creamy white color on very old trees. Very few trees in the US are old enough to have turned to white.
