Quercus bicolor
Swamp white oak

The leaves are alternate, simple, obovate and 3 to 7" long. Its leaf margins are wavy or have shallowly rounded lobes. The leaves are thick and stiff with a dark shiny green upper surface and whitish velvety pubescent undersides. The white undersides contrast nicely with the dark upper surfaces, resulting in the specific name "bicolor". The contrasting colors are easily visible from a distance in the wind.
