Salix purpurea
Purpleoiser willow

The reddish brown to purplish brown buds are narrow conical, glabrous, 3/16 - 1/4" long, single-scaled and appressed to the stem. The flower buds are at the longer end of the range and the vegetative buds shorter. Silvery pubescence can be found just under the scales of flower buds.
