Styrax japonicus
Japanese snowbell

Culture: Moist well-drained acidic soils high in organic matter are required for healthy plants. Flowering is best in full sun to partial shade, and care must be taken to site the plant in protected areas.

There are little to no problems with this species.

Usage: Despite the strict cultural regime, Japanese snowbells have a lot to offer in the landscape. The graceful white bell-shaped flowers, clean foliage, and interesting bark make it best suited as a specimen plant. However, it can also be used in massed plantings on building corners or in back of a shrub or perennial border.
