Syringa vulgaris

Syringa vulgaris
Common lilac

Culture: Although this species prefers full sun like most lilacs, it is best sited in neutral pH soils. Old flowers should be removed as soon as they fade to ensure strong blooming the next year, and old branches should be renewal pruned.

Powdery mildew can be problematic in shady areas or spaces with poor air movement.
