Tilia cordata
Littleleaf linden

Culture: Littleleaf linden has a slow growth rate, slower than the other lindens. Like other lindens it is very adaptable to many cultural situations such as acid or alkaline conditions and it shows some air pollution tolerance. It is easy to transplant.

This species is one of the favorite food sources for Japanese Beetles in the Midwest. Most trees are entirely brown by the late summer.

The very uniform habit of this species makes it a popular choice for formal situations. Unfortunately the problem with Japanese Beetles makes it difficult to recommend where they are present.
