Carolina hemlock

Borne in a radial fashion, the 5/16 - 11/16" leaves are linear, flattened, and lustrous green above with two white stomatal bands below. The apices are rounded or nearly truncate, while the margins are entire. They lack the distinct taper from the base to the apex, the finely serrated margin and 2-ranked condition of Tsuga canadensis.
