Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium'
Monkshood-leaved fullmoon maple

Culture: Fullmoon maples prefer partially shaded sites with moist soils high in organic matter, and should be kept away from sweeping winds.

Usage: This particular cultivar of the fullmoon maple is hardy at the Chicago Botanic Gardens and is displayed on the Japanese islands. It probably needs some protection in zone 5a but it has had handsome fall color each year.
