Acer rubrum
Red maple

The bright red, immature samaras are slightly to moderately showy 2-4 weeks after flowering, after which they mature to a brown or reddish-brown on 3/4" long pedicels. The 3/4 - 1" long samaras are attached in pairs at a 50-65 degree angle. The samaras and pedicels are significantly shorter than those of the silver maple.
