Acer truncatum
Purpleblow maple

Culture: Purpleblow maple is adaptable, drought and heat tolerant, and easy to grow with relatively few pest or disease problems. When young, this species has a tendency to produce an excess number of small lateral branches. Some thinning of these is desirable to avoid excessive density.

There are no serious problems.

Usage: A little-used small tree, purpleblow maple has an excellent potential for landscape use. Possibilities include use as a specimen or in small groupings, or as a large screen along properties.
