Ailanthus altissima
Tree of heaven

A weedy tree with few redeeming features, the tree of heaven was probably named by someone with a rather droll sense of humor. It is quick to spread and grow, and for this reason is probably only usable along highways and other difficult areas where "more desirable" plants cannot be grown.

Habit:Rounded to oval
Size:40-60' high
Color:Medium-dark green
Texture:Medium in summer, coarse in winter
Hardiness:Zone 5a USDA
Habitat:China
Family:Simaroubaceae
