Ailanthus altissima
Tree of heaven

Forming on female plants, the fruit is a moderately showy greenish-red to a bright red samara, becoming brown in the winter. The narrow elliptical samaras are flat with the seed in the center and twisted. The narrow shape allows seeds to make their way into cracks along foundation walls, where they readily grow.
