Buxus microphylla
Littleleaf boxwood

Culture: The littleleaf boxwood prefers cool, moist sites in full sun to light shade. The use of an organic mulch will help keep roots from drying in the summer. It should be protected from winds.

The list of potential problems is rather long, but usually only applies when the plant is stressed due to poor drainage.

Usage: The boxwood makes an excellent foundation or hedging plant, and is often used in formal gardens. Plants of this genus are widely used as decorative sheared hedges in formal gardens. This species can also be used to form more informal unsheared hedges as well. Large plantings make the ammonia-like odor given off by this plant quite noticeable.
