Common sweetshrub

Opposite, simple and entire, the 2 to 5" long leaves are ovate to elliptic-ovate with a cuneate to rounded base, an acuminate apex and a short petiole. Although most often dark green above and slightly glossy with slightly impressed venation, the leaves can also be grayish green and slightly dull. The leaves are pubescent below.
