Culture: Preferring warm climates, the Chinese fringetree is best situated in moist, fertile, acidic soils. Although it is commonly limited to USDA zone 6a, the Urbana Illinois campus has a planting that have survived winter temperatures of -25 and -27 degrees Fahrenheit. This species has relatively few insect and disease problems.
Usage: Useful as a specimen plant where the flowers and fruit display can be appreciated.
