| Corylus americana
Culture: A very adaptable species, the American Hazelnut is pH adaptable, tolerates very moist to dry conditions and prefers full sun or light shade. This plant forms a very large shrub that can continue to widen over time as it suckers. A number of minor problems have been reported, but generally this species is fairly trouble-free in the landscape. Usage: Primarily used for naturalizing, this species lacks a strong ornamental feature which would make it more appealing to the homeowner. It is best suited to large sites and can be used very effectively in masses. |
