Cotoneaster adpressus

Cotoneaster adpressus
Creeping cotoneaster

Deciduous and borne alternately along the stem, the 1/4 - 5/8" long leaves are broad ovate to obovate with wavy leaf margins. The leaf apex is terminated in a short bristly tip (mucronate), and the leaf underside is somewhat pubescent, particularly when young. The leaves are very similar to those of Cotoneaster apiculatus, with equal or slightly greater undulation.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the glossiness of the leaf surface -- several sources list it as a dull dark green, while others describe them as a lustrous, glossy dark green. Dirr reports that all plants he has seen have had a glossy leaf surface.
