Cotoneaster adpressus
Creeping cotoneaster

Culture: Extremely tolerant of a wide range of cultural conditions, Cotoneaster adpressus will grow in heavy clay or sandy soils, in drought-like conditions, and in either alkaline or acidic soils. It prefers moist, well-drained soils, and will not tolerate wet feet -- that is, the site must drain.

Mites and fireblight can be a problem. Avoid locating plants in hot dry sites to lessen problems with mites.

Usage: This makes an excellent plant for rock gardens, along foundations, or as a bank stabilizer. The red fruit truly make it stand out in the fall, and the habit and clean leaves give it interesting character in spring and summer.
