Cotinus obovatus
American smoketree

Larger than those of the Common Smoketree, the leaves of this species are alternate, obovate to elliptic-obovate, 3-6" or somewhat more in length with a cuneate base, rounded or emarginate apex and entire margin. The leaves have very thin petioles and also have some pubescence below.
