Cunninghamia lanceolata
Common chinafir

The glossy 1 to 2 1/2" leaves are evergreen with a definite taper from the base to the apex, spirally arranged and appear to spread in 2 ranks. They are linear-lanceolate in shape with sharp pointed tips and broad white stomatal bands on each side of the midrib on the bottom of the leaf. Leaves persist for 5 years or more, and the dead leaves will often remain on the stems for several years.
