Deutzia x lemoinei
Lemoine deutzia

Culture: This species prefers full sun to partial shade and acidic to neutral moist soils. Members of this genus are easy to transplant. Plants can be easily rejuvenated by cutting the stems to the ground. Shearing of the plant tops greatly reduces the grace of this species.

This species has few insect or disease problems.

Usage: The Lemoine deutzia is commonly used in shrub borders and in large masses. Although the flower display is nice on this species, it only offers one season of interest, restricting its utility in the landscape. The cultivar 'Compacta' grows to 3-4' in height and is a nice selection.
