
| Franklinia alatamaha Franklin treeA most noteworthy species, the Franklinia is small tree or large oval shrub with showy white flowers, outstanding orange to red fall color and attractive smooth gray bark. It was native along the banks of the Altamaha River in Georgia when a few seeds were collected by John Bartram in 1770.
