Ilex decidua
Possumhaw

Culture: This species prefers moist soil and sunny conditions, but it cannot tolerate continually wet soils. It is more adapted to alkaline soils than Ilex verticillata. It is resistant to salt and is generally a fairly tough plant. Plants tolerate cutting to the ground for size control and rejuvenation.

This is a relatively trouble-free species.

Usage: Like Ilex verticillata, this species is useful as a border, screen, or for massed or naturalized plantings. There are many excellent selections available for yellow, orange or red fruiting.
