Culture: Site requirements for this species are relatively the same as for the entire genus, although it does not exhibit as high a level of drought resistance as some the western junipers.
Phomopsis blight and cedar apple rust are this species' main disease problems, althought there are few insect problems.
Usage: This is a popular plant in the midwest and on the plains for used as a screen, hedge, or foundation plant.
