Deciduous, opposite to slightly subopposite and pubescent below, the dull to slightly glossy green leaves are narrow elliptic to oblong or oblong-oblanceolate, entire with slightly impressed venation and 1 to 2 1/8" long. The new leaves are only slightly purple very briefly, quickly turning green without a purple margin.
