Lonicera x heckrottii
Goldflame honeysuckle

Having a beautiful blend of colors, this species starts its flowering display with deep purple opening buds that turn to red just prior to opening. The open flowers are a 1 1/2 - 2" long and narrow corolla, red on the outside and deep yellow to creamy white on the inside. Like many other honeysuckles the corolla has 4 limbs opposite a single limb. The attractive and fragrant flowering begins in June and is continuous throughout the summer into September.
