Malus x 'Zumi' var. calocarpa Redbud zumi flowering crabapple
The bright red flowers buds open pinkish white and quickly turn to white. The fragrant flowers are 1 2/5" in diameter with 5 slightly obovate-oblong petals. Most sources report it to be an annual bearer with occasional biennial tendencies. The contrast of the unopened red buds with the white of the first flowers is quite striking.
