Oxydendrum arboreum
Sourwood

Borne in large and finely textured racemose-panicles, the fruits are narrow elliptic-ovate capsules that persist through the winter, making a good winter identification feature. The young upright greenish white new capsules are slightly showy and make the viewer believe the plant is still in flower through the summer. The capsules turn brown as they mature.
