Picea abies
Norway spruce

Dark green, 4-sided, and 1/2 - 1"-long, the evergreen leaves of this species are spirally arranged around the branches with those borne on the upper side of stem overlapping and pointing forwards, while those on the lower side spread left and right to expose the stem. The linear needles end in a blunt point, and are sessile on conspicuous peg-like projections of the twig.
