Pinus koraiensis
Korean pine

Thin and a bit soft to the touch, the slender needles are 2 1/2 - 4 1/2" long and borne in fascicles of 5. The outer surface of each needle is green with the inner surfaces bearing prominent stomatal bands and rough serrulate margins. The 1/2" leaf sheaths are present only briefly and the needles persist only two years. Similar to those of Pinus strobus except slightly more glaucous, bluish and stiffer.
