Small and feathery, the non-showy fruits are only borne on female trees and have large masses of cottony hairs attached to the gray-brown capsules. Although the pubescence aides in fruit dispersal, it is a nuisance in urban areas where it readily blocks filters on air conditioners and air exchange units.
