Prunus x cistena
Purpleleaf sand cherry

A medium to large rounded multi-stemmed shrub grown for its reddish purple foliage and light pink flowers. Cistena is the word for baby in the Sioux Indian language.

Habit:Oval-rounded, becoming rounded or even broad rounded over time, usually multi-stemmed
Size:7-10' high
Color:Deep reddish-purple most season; one of the best purple leaved shrubs
Texture:Medium-fine
Hardiness:Zone 3b USDA; expect some winter stem dieback in zones 3b and 4a according to Flint
